Surrogate-based methods for black-box optimization
In this paper, we survey methods that are currently used in black-box optimization, i.e. the kind of problems whose objective functions are very expensive to evaluate and no analytical or derivative information are available. We concentrate on a particular family of methods, in which surrogate (or meta) models are iteratively constructed and used to search for global solutions.
متن کاملEfficient Surrogate Assisted Optimization for Constrained Black-Box Problems
Modern real-world optimization problems are often high dimensional and subject to many constraints. These problems are typically expensive in terms of cost and computational time. In order to optimize such problems, conventional constraintbased solvers require a high number of function evaluations which are not affordable in practice. Employment of fast surrogate models to approximate objective...
متن کاملBlack-box Fault Models
Four black-box fault models are introduced in the paper. The test generation task for the black-box model is more complicated, because possible realizations of the design must be taken into account. However, the time required to generate tests is not very critical factor, because the test generation can be done in parallel with the circuit synthesis process without a prolongation of Time-to-Mar...
متن کاملBuilding Parameterized Models for Black-Box Applications
Characterizing and modeling the performance of parallel applications has been a long-standing goal of computer science research. An accurate performance model for an application has many uses including understanding its scalability, providing guidance for resource selection at launch time, guiding on-line performance monitoring and run-time adaptation, and providing input for design of architec...
متن کاملA Nearly-Black-Box Online Algorithm for Joint Parameter and State Estimation in Temporal Models
Online joint parameter and state estimation is a core problem for temporal models. Most existing methods are either restricted to a particular class of models (e.g., the Storvik filter) or computationally expensive (e.g., particle MCMC). We propose a novel nearly-black-box algorithm, the Assumed Parameter Filter (APF), a hybrid of particle filtering for state variables and assumed density filte...
